Noodle Pudding (Noodle Kugel)

This is a recipe, from my grandmother, on my father's side. Noodle Kugel is an Eastern European dish. Kugels used to only be savory, but then transformed into sweet, as well. We like this at Chanukah, or to bring to a winter potluck, for a change.
Noodle Kugel
1 lb medium egg noodles
1/4 lb butter
1 1/4c sugar (you can lower this to 1c)
1c milk
1c sour cream (I use light or reduced fat.)
1/2 lb cottage cheese (I use light or reduced fat.)
1/2 c raisins (I skip these, because I don't like raisins, but dried cranberries are good, too!)
2t vanilla extract
5 eggs, well beaten

Boil noodles, drain, add butter and all other ingredients, mix well. Grease 13x9 pan well. Sprinkle top with sugar and cinnamon.
Bake at 350F for 1 hour.
